Save the Date: Flute Competitions and Recitals

Competitions and recitals are always optional for my private flute students, but they can be a lot of fun. Check out ones that you may be eligible to do or see:

• Oklahoma Flute Society HS Masterclass Competition: Recording Due March 1st, Performance on April 2nd in OKC. This is a great flute organization just a few hours south of Wichita!
• Texas Flute Society Masterclass Competition (MS, HS, and College Divisions) Recording Due March 1st, Perform at Masterclasses on May 20-21 at the Texas Flute Society Festival in Denton, TX (north of Dallas). 
• Tack Flute Competitions: 8:30AM-Noon on April 16th at Friends University in Wichita, KS. Middle and High School Competitions. I'll update the website soon with a new flyer, but the basic details are the same as last year regarding repertoire and memorization.
• Dr. Shelly's Flute Recital at WSU: 5PM on April 30th at Wiedemann Hall at Wichita State University. Dr. Shelly really shaped how I play and is one of my favorite flutists. Plan to come see her off as she is retiring this Spring. I will definitely be there!
• Play A Tack Flute Competition: 10am-Noon on May 7th at Martha Housholder's home in Wichita, KS. I'll update the website soon with a new flyer, but the basic details are the same as last year regarding repertoire and memorization.
• Wichita Youth Orchestras: Audition Date/Rep TBD. Participation in your school's band or orchestra program is a requirement in order to audition for Youth Symphony. You will need your director to write a recommendation letter for you to audition.
• Texas Flute Society Annual Festival: May 19-21 at Texas Women's University in Denton, TX. This event has lots of great flute performances and exhibits. Their website is a bit sparse, but this is a great festival to attend to immerse yourself in the flute world!
