Recommendations for Live Wedding Music in Wichita, KS

5/28/2014

Selecting live music for your wedding or event says a lot about your style. Wedding musicians in Wichita, KS play just as beautifully as pros in any major city - you just have to know who to contact.

I've put together a few recommendations for local wedding musicians and, while I'm partial to the flute, there are many stellar performers in the area on a variety of instruments (and many more than I'm highlighting today....). Good Luck!

Wichita Wedding Musician Contacts:
  • David Lord - He owns and manages Air House Records in Wichita, KS and knows most of the gigging musicians in town. If you'd like classical guitar, a rock band, or anything in between ask him for a recommendation for who's around.
  • ICTrio - If you're looking for a string quartet (or string quartet vibe at a lower price), these ladies do beautiful work.
  • Rob Loren - He plays a lot of violin/fiddle/mandolin with an improv focus (bluegrass, country and/or celtic) and can put together a versatile ensemble as well.
  • Tornado Alley Flute Ensemble - A professional flute ensemble featuring flutists on faculty at Kansas State University, Butler Community College (me), Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and Southwestern Oklahoma State University. If you'd like just a flute soloist or duo we're happy to pare it back, too.
  • Wichita Symphony Musicians - Looking for a unique blend of players or (gasp) a bassoon soloist? The Wichita Symphony has contact info posted on its site for many of the musicians.

Live Music Guidelines:
  • Book Early - Professional musicians usually schedule performances months in advance.  Reserve music for your event today!
  • Contract Information - Individual contracts are usually provided upon request and must be completed and returned in order to reserve musicians for your event.  If you have any questions or special requests please make sure to ask in advance.
  • Travel Fees - It's common for musicians to charge a mileage fee for weddings outside of the area. Expect a $0.50 per mile fee if your event is outside of the city.
  • Sample Contract (PDF) - This is a sample of what I use when writing up a contract for wedding gigs.
