Get Back in the Groove: Student Edition

1/14/2015

“What goes around may come around, but it never ends up exactly the same place, you ever notice?
Like a record on a turntable, all it takes is one groove's difference
and the universe can be on into a whole 'nother song.”

― Thomas Pynchon, Inherent Vice

Try the following to get back into your flute practice routine, especially if you're recovering from "extended time off" over the winter break:
  • Place your music stand (and/or your flute case) in a conspicuous place where you will see it several times today.
  • Watch some quality flute performances on Youtube. (Really listen to them go for it and invest themselves.)
  • Find your music. It should go without saying, but it's hard to get back in the groove if you're not sure where you put your favorite stuff.
  • Practice something easy and something hard. Mix it up. Do it tonight.
